Our ambition has always been for the hub to be a focus for wider health and wellbeing support for our communities as well as offering NHS outpatient services in easily accessible locations. We hope our patients and local people will find it a useful addition to the services on offer.”

Simon O’Brien, Walking and Cycling Commissioner for the Liverpool City Region, said: “It’s fantastic to see this new social prescribing service being launched in Halton. Not only is cycling and walking great for air quality and the environment, but it’s also brilliant for our physical and mental health and wellbeing. Studies have shown regular walking and cycling can cut the risk of health problems like heart disease or stroke by up to a third. And there’s lots of evidence that suggests being more active can help tackle stress and anxiety.

As well backing schemes like this, Mayor Steve Rotheram and the Combined Authority are committed to making active travel a safer and more attractive option by investing in brand new infrastructure. That’s why we’re continuing to work with local councils to build a 600km network of footpaths and cycleways where people can walk or use their bike with confidence.”
