Unlocking social imagination: from vision to action (part 3)

In the final part of this three-part series on social imagination, Mark Swift, CEO of Wellbeing Enterprises CIC and Visiting Fellow at the Heseltine Institute, considers what it takes to turn vision into reality.

The first instalment explored how social imagination helps us move beyond short-term crisis management and design systems rooted in equity, care, and long-term flourishing. The second addressed the cultural barrier of fatalism, showing how reframing can open new possibilities for change.

This concluding piece argues that imagination alone is not enough. To translate ideas into impact, it requires structure - time, space, and scaffolding - to navigate the messy, non-linear journey from vision to practice.
