I love the work I do! Every day, I have the privilege of supporting people with whatever challenges they're facing.

What is a typical day in your role like?

A typical day as a Wellbeing Link Worker involves spending time with people in the community, offering a listening ear and building trust. Together, we explore the challenges they’re facing - whether it’s emotional stress, loneliness, financial concerns, bereavement, or anything else they might be struggling with.

From there, we create a wellbeing plan together that helps them navigate these issues and take positive steps forward. After our initial appointment, I keep in touch to see how things are going, make any necessary adjustments to the wellbeing plan, and provide ongoing encouragement. I'm with the person every step of the way, checking in regularly, celebrating their progress, and offering support whenever it's needed.

What do you like best about your role at Wellbeing Enterprises?

I absolutely love being part of our Programme of Activities. As a naturally creative person, I find real joy in all things arts and crafts, so bringing that into my work is a real privilege. But for me, it’s not just about the crafts - it’s about the togetherness, the laughter, and the conversations that happen along the way.

What I really cherish is seeing people try something new, grow in confidence, and build connections. There’s something special about those shared moments - the smiles, the chatter, and the simple joy of creating side by side.

How do you look after your own wellbeing?

I look after my own wellbeing by going to the gym and playing hockey. Being able to put all my built-up emotions onto something else like lifting weights or hitting a ball has worked wonders for my mental health. Self-care is so important to me! When I want to chill, I like to paint my nails and knit. Just having that "me" time is lovely. Making sure that my wellbeing is good ensures I can support those I work with to the best of my ability.

What are your top tips for wellbeing?

Maintaining your wellbeing should always be a priority. Remember to do activities that bring you joy. Whenever possible, give yourself the gift of relaxation by unplugging and unwinding. Maybe you can try to incorporate physical activity into your weekly routine, even if it's just a leisurely stroll. Your wellbeing is always worth investing in.

Do activities that you find enjoyable, try not to follow the crowd. Just because it's working for someone else, it might not work for you. Dip your hand in a couple of things before choosing the one for you. Taking small steps to boost you wellbeing is always key.

What are your hobbies?

In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering, it really boosts my wellbeing. Giving back to the community is something I find really fulfilling. It’s also a chance to meet incredible people and hear the powerful stories behind their journeys.

I’m also passionate about cooking, especially experimenting with different meals. There’s something oddly joyful about singing into a wooden spoon while I cook - it helps me switch off from everything else and just be in the moment.

Tell us something unique about yourself.
I had the privilege of travelling through India with World Challenge. I raised £2,500 to be able to go. The first week we helped a small village with creating a gutter system on their homes to collect water and the second week I had an amazing experience trekking through the jungle. I had a couple of leaches attach themselves to me but definitely worth the magical experience.
