Liverpool City Region’s Imaginarium to Launch: A New Civic Space for Unlocking Community Imagination

To mark its 20th anniversary as one of the UK’s longest-standing Community Interest Companies, Wellbeing Enterprises CIC is proud to announce the launch of a bold new initiative: the Imaginarium – a space for unlocking civic imagination and accelerating community-led change across the Liverpool City Region.

The Imaginarium will be a grassroots, people-powered “think and do tank” – a place where citizens, creatives, community builders, and changemakers from all walks of life come together to dream boldly and act collectively. It offers a unique civic platform outside traditional institutions, while also forging new relationships between people, power, and possibility.

Social imagination is not a luxury – it is civic infrastructure. The Imaginarium will nurture this infrastructure, creating space for communities to shape futures that are more inclusive, just, and joyful.

Backed by a growing cross-sector coalition of organisations and allies from across the region, momentum is already building. Planning is progressing rapidly, guided by a commitment to co-production and a wide open invitation to everyone who wants to get involved.

“The Imaginarium is about reclaiming imagination as a civic superpower,” said Mark Swift, CEO of Wellbeing Enterprises CIC. “At a time when communities are facing deep challenges, we need fresh spaces where people can imagine better and build together. This isn’t about asking for permission – it’s about creating a new table where everyone’s voice matters. We’re building something radically hopeful, and everyone’s invited.”

While full programme details will be announced in due course, the Imaginarium will offer:

  • A home for imaginative action led by communities – not consultants
  • Partnerships with public, private and third sector allies across the Liverpool City Region
  • Opportunities for people with lived and local experience to lead and shape change
  • A standing invitation to imagine – and build – fairer, freer, and more joyful futures

Wellbeing Enterprises CIC has a two-decade track record of pioneering community-led approaches to health and wellbeing. The launch of the Imaginarium signals a bold new chapter – one that places imagination at the heart of civic life.
