Welfare and financial advice givers from across the borough are teaming up to address the growing concerns over debt, benefits and the pending welfare reforms at a FREE information session taking place in Runcorn and Widnes in March.
Agencies including Halton CAB, Halton Welfare Rights Team, Halton Housing and many others will be providing information and support to local residents. Guest speakers for the event include David Grey from Halton Council’s Welfare Rights Team, who will give a presentation on the forthcoming benefit welfare reforms, including the bedroom tax. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to browse around a ‘Money Market’, where they can receive financial information and support from a range of local agencies. Attendees at the ‘Wellbeing Money Market’ will also learn simple top-tips about improving their wellbeing.
The events are being organised by a local social enterprise, Wellbeing Enterprises, who are working with eight GP Practices across Halton to improve people’s wellbeing. Chris Carlin, Wellbeing Enterprises’ Programme Manager said,“Our work in GP Practices has uncovered that there are a lot of people who are worried about their financial circumstances and the forthcoming changes to the benefits changes – these changes have added to their fears, which is having an adverse effect on their wellbeing, therefore it is important to raise awareness of what help and support is available.”
The two events will take place on Wednesday 20th March (10.15am to 12.00pm) at Halton Brook Community Centre, and on Friday 22nd March (1.45pm to 3.30pm) at Upton Community Centre in Widnes. Both events are FREE for any resident of Halton to attend. Places at the events are limited, therefore please book a place in advance by contacting the Wellbeing Enterprises team on 01928 589 799 or by clicking on the links above.
